BAME Planners in Academia

BAME Planners Network are delighted to introduce BAME Planners in Academia (BPiA) - a new specialist group within the BAME Planners Network designed to meet the needs of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Planners working in academia.

This new group recognises that academic planners face distinct challenges and opportunities. BPiA exists to support, connect, and amplify BAME academic voices in teaching, research, and leadership across the spatial planning and built environment disciplines.

The aims include:

• Creating a thriving peer network of BAME academics in spatial planning and the built environment
• ⁠Fostering collaborative research projects, and increasing awareness of funding opportunities
• Championing academic leadership and progression within universities
• ⁠Raising the profile of planners in academia,
• Inspire more planners from BAME communities to consider academic careers.
